Privacy policy

TankTide is published by Softwarehouse.au. This policy explains how the mobile app handles information.

Records you choose to add

Tank profiles and notes, water-test values, custom parameters, personal target bands, care schedules and history, livestock/plant/equipment records and preferences are designed to remain on your device. TankTide does not require an account and does not sync these records to a developer cloud database.

Export, backup and restore

Tests, maintenance and livestock can be exported as separate CSV files. You can also create a JSON backup. A file leaves TankTide only when you choose an export or backup destination through your device's share controls. A destination you select, such as a drive or messaging app, handles its copy under its own terms. To restore in v1, you explicitly paste complete TankTide backup JSON into the in-app restore field and ask the app to validate and restore it; there is no restore file picker.

Reminders

If you grant notification permission, TankTide schedules care reminders locally on the device. It is not designed to register a remote push-notification token or send aquarium record contents to a notification server.

Advertising and consent

TankTide uses Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform. Where required, advertising choices are gathered before Mobile Ads is initialised or an ad is requested. If the app cannot establish that ads may be requested, advertising fails closed.

Google Mobile Ads may process data such as IP address (which can estimate approximate location), device or advertising identifiers, ads viewed, app/ad interactions, crash information and performance information for advertising, analytics, measurement, security and fraud prevention. TankTide does not request precise device location. Advertising choices may be revisited where the consent platform requires a privacy-options entry point.

App updates

An installed version may check Expo Application Services for signed updates. An update request can include the operating system, the developer project ID and a random installation token used to determine whether an installation requested an update.

Retention and deletion

Local records remain until you delete them in the app, clear the app's storage or uninstall TankTide. Exported or backed-up files remain wherever you placed them until you delete them there. Google, Expo and any destination you choose may retain data according to their own policies.

Security

Keeping aquarium records local reduces routine sharing, but no device, storage method or network transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect exported backups as you would any personal file.

Children

TankTide is a general aquarium record utility and is not directed to children under 13. It does not provide a public community or social posting feature.

Changes

If the app's data handling changes, this policy will be updated with a new effective date before the related release where practical.

Contact

Privacy questions can be sent to tools@softwarehouse.au. Do not email a JSON backup or other private record contents unless support specifically asks for a redacted example and you choose to provide it.

Recording boundary: TankTide stores user-entered observations and schedules. It does not provide safe ranges, diagnosis, treatment, dosing, stocking or compatibility advice.
